A New Love

One thing I love about being an accompanist is I'm introduced to a lot of music I wouldn't otherwise hear or maybe pay much attention to. (When you play something over and over, it tends to start to stick.)

I would advise you listen to this about five times in a row, or at least a short period of time. :) My favorite words are in the second verse. I hear this as a parent singing to a child. Is that what you hear?

Lovely, lovely, lovely song. Something about the way this song has such beautiful harmonies and unexpected notes in the melody really makes me think of "Wexford Carol." I don't remember the first time I was introduced to it, but it quickly became one of my very favorite Christmas songs, up there with "Oh, Holy Night."

Both Celtic Women and the Motab have beautiful versions of Wexford Carol on YouTube, if you run a quick search.

This is a beautiful song. I may have to start singing again so I can perform songs like this one at concerts.

P.S. I gave you a blog award again. You very much deserve it, too.

Morgan - Thanks for the Wexford Carol recommendation. Very beautiful! (With both Motab and Celtic Women.)

Heidi and Sarah - Nice to hear from you. And thanks, Heidi, for the award. I'm going to be a lame-o and not pass it on.

Kristy Lynne - I'd love to hear you sing thing. One of Morgan's favorite church singing memories is listening to you sing in Provo.

Aunt Mona - I'm sure you could fit it into a podcast somehow. I can't wait to see what you do with it. :)

Wendy - Thanks for loving my blog! I aim to please. :) Actually, I just find so many cool things and want to share them, so I'm glad that others enjoy them too.

That was beautiful! I'm guessing you've accompanied someone who sang this? Where did you find the music? I've been asked to sing in sacrament meeting in June/July and now I'm rethinking my selection. Thanks for sharing.

atmchick - I found this music in a book of Celtic Women music. I did accompany someone who sang it. She did such a wonderful job and there's where I fell in love. The words are so beautiful.
