Something to make me happy

Okay, I'm still annoyed, but I've found something to make me happy. (Actually, lots of somethings. Don't let me fool you. I have a great life.)

I was driving along today and saw a sign. (No. Literally.) It looked something like this:

Music to my ears. Eyes? Music? Never mind. (Speaking of which, I heard a great oboe/flute concerto today composed by a man I had never heard of. Beautiful!)

I dropped by said book sale. It was at a used bookstore I like to frequent when I happen to be nearby. I've had some pretty neat finds, like this one:

And this one:

And even this one:

Quite lovely finds, I thought. So like I said, I dropped by. When they said they were having a sale, boy, they meant it. I got 12 books, 12 movies, and 2 books on tape for $21. Not bad! Granted, most of those movies were VHS. But hey, we have a VCR. (Is VCR going to date me with my kids?)

I felt like a big spender, but the deals were just too good to pass. (And we had enough fun money. Hooray for budgeting!) That's my triumph. It made my day.

Pardon the Pause

I was just on a trip. I had a wonderful time. It was away from this world. On my way home, I was brought sharply into reality. So pardon my pause. I'm trying to think of something to write about. It might be a few days before I'm less annoyed. (But it's a cute picture, eh?)

More gorgeousness

We spent a beautiful day looking at my favorite state.

The pretty ivy.

The beautiful flowers.

(You've got to zoom in on this one.)

Saw some of the cool native wildlife.

Watched a beautiful sunset.

From a ferry.

At Disney. What a day!

What a voice

Most of y'all have heard of Kristen Chenoweth? Listen to her voice! (Pardon her dress.)

She's amazing, no? I can't get over her talent!

An Important Epiphany

Okay, y'all. (The correct way to spell that, by the way. Not ya'll. It is you and all contracted. But I digress.) This is very important. Listen to my story...

I think I've mentioned that I have the perfect husband. He really is the sweetest, most gentle and kind and everything wonderful. And I'm not exaggerating. Those of you who know him know I'm not exaggerating. Well, we had a fight tonight. I know. Gasp! Really, we almost never fight. (And our fighting isn't knock-down-drag-out like I had with my brothers growing up.) He said something and I took it wrong. (Even though I've been warned and do warn people to realize that husbands almost never say anything to hurt their wives... wife? whatever. And did I mention our fights are always my fault? No joke. No. Really. I'm not kidding. I'm so petty sometimes.) I spent the next couple of hours trying not to be hurt, but just feeling awful. When we said our prayers, I prayed and prayed that Satan would go away and leave me alone and Heavenly Father would make me feel better. Morgan fell asleep while reading to me as usual. (Too cute!) I was laying awake when I realized something. CONFERENCE IS THIS WEEKEND! Duh. All of a sudden, I felt lighter than air. It wasn't my fault I was so touchy when I always preach to be less quick to be hurt. (That was a dumb sentence.) And okay, it was partly my fault, but I really am not usually so touchy. I feel like Heavenly Father quickly answered my plea for help and I'm planning on having a great Conference Weekend! How about you? Anybody else unreasonably grouchy?

Give a bunch of guys 3D glasses...

I love my family. Need I say more?

Glowing spires

I've been talking with several friends lately about the prevalence of depression these days. Seems like half the people I know are depressed. (Very possibly more.) Why is this? Any good thoughts? In the meantime, here's a quote that I found that was inspiring. Let's keep going to the temple!

Vaughn J. Featherstone, The Incomparable Christ: Our Master and Model, p.4
"Before the Savior comes the world will darken. The time will come when even the elect will begin to lose hope if they do not come often to the temples. I believe that the Saints will come to the temples not only to do vicarious work but also to find a God-given haven of peace."

We took these pictures on a trip up to D.C. The day was dark and dreary, yet look at the way the spires glow. They seemed to be a beacon. A coincidence? I think not. I was glad our camera caught the way they glowed.

(A funny side note. If you look closely at them, you'll notice that the pictures line up pretty perfectly. This was not on purpose! There were several pictures taken in between these two. I think it's fun that they lined up so well.)
